Openmediavault owncloud 98/20/2023 and that I didn't make too many mistakes in the process. (the other parts are linked in it's description if you're interested) Here is the link to part 3: Install & Configure openmediavault (omv6) | DIY NAS Part 3 - Software Costruisciti il tuo NAS o il tuo Cloud privato con applicativo come NextCloud o OwnCloud. It took a while to put together and ended up being a 3-part video with the 1st part being the basics (why, what, concepts, etc.), the 2nd part being the hardware (issues & how I configured the NAS), and finally part 3 - the software (omv choice, download, install, and config). OMV 5: 9 x Odroid HC2 + 1 x Odroid HC1 + 1 x Raspberry Pi 4. I decided to make a tutorial/walkthrough video for the whole process (decision, download, installation, configuration) that imho would even work for a beginner and might be helpful to others that don't know what to expect. ) - thanks to all and this great community. When it came to the NAS software, I naturally went with openmediavault - only that back then there was no video documentation yet, so a lot was trial & error for me, and several folks on this forum were instrumental in my eventual success ( Agricola gderf ryecoaaron Zoki. ![]() using 10 year old hardware (HP Proliant Microserver N40L). OMV on the other hand is a NAS/server solution, again with drop-in plugins for stuff like Plex servers and web servers. I left the uid undefiend while recompiling so it can be executed by the group that owns it.Shortly after omv 6 launched, I started building my own NAS on the cheap. There are ways and means to expand NC with various other stuff like calendar management, team collaboration and other bits, but underneath it's essentially your own cloud (hence the name of the project it forked from, OwnCloud). The pwauth file that is already on the system can only be executed by the Which is why it had to be recompiled in order for us to work. Now log into your owncloud and activate the app, and then go to the admin page and change the path of the pwauth executable to where you put yours. Set permissions on the pwauth file to 750 ![]() Change the ownership of the pwauth file to the group you've just created. 4) Click on 'Add storage' and then click on 'local'. This is where you add local folder from your OMV. (Again, it's either ownlcoud or openmediavault) 1) Now, to make an folder available to your ownCloud user you need to click on admin in the upper right corner 2) Then click on admin in the drop down 3) You should see the 'External Storage' toward the top. Creat a new group pwauth and put whatever user owncloud is running at in its members. (/usr/bin/local/ is a good place for example) Copy the recompiled pwauth file (see attachment) to any folder on your system. if you used the script without folder redirection it would be owncloud:owncloud. Download, Extract and copy the plugin to your /var/www/owncloud/apps folder. I was fiddleing around with the Unix User Backend App and got it working. Here is another thing some of you might like. If you look at the config files you see that OMV uses the same config for both port 80 and 443 and since you're just getting redirected to a folder and not a VirtualHost SSL should work if you have configured it in OMV. Https shouldn't cause any trouble (at least it doesn't for me). Ability to configure automatic monitoring with notifications. Flexible access configuration via firewall. Access via FTP, NFS, SAMBA / CIFS, Rsync, WebDAV protocols. I didn't test running the alias script with https enabled. OpenMediaVault possibilities and distinctive features: Multilingual web interface for managing remote NAS. If you use the alias installer, you don't specify a port because it is running on the same port that the OMV web interface runs on.
